Unitree Technology introduced two new robots at the 2025 Global Developers Pioneer Conference. The Unitree G1 humanoid robot, priced at 99,000 yuan, features a lightweight design and high load capacity. The Unitree Go2, aimed at consumers, can walk dogs and pull objects.
Carbon fiber composites are ideal for robots because they are 30% lighter than aluminum, with more than twice the fatigue life and three times the rigidity. This increases payload, precision and endurance. Examples include:
Fanuc M-2000iA robot arm: T800 carbon fiber reduces energy consumption by 20%.
Amazon Proteus warehouse robot: Carbon fiber chassis reduces weight by 40% and adds three hours of battery life.
Boston Dynamics' Atlas V6: Carbon fiber joints allow 1.5m jumps.
Tesla's Optimus: T700 carbon fiber legs reduce single leg weight by 40% and energy consumption by 18%.
Sinofiber: Launched "robot concept" in Jan 2024, with carbon fiber used in industrial robots.
Kingfa Sci. & Tech.: Announced carbon fiber composites and plastics for humanoid robots in Mar 2024, used in some industrial/service robots.
Jinggong Science & Technology: In Dec 2024, developed AI exoskeleton robot with foreign partners and Fudan University.
Shenzhen Guatron: In Jan 2025, applied carbon fiber to exoskeleton robot components.

The carbon fiber AI robot market is expected to exceed $10 billion. Challenges include high cost, lack of standardized testing, and the need for new manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing. Streamlining the industry chain is also key.
